Miss Keyana Williams will be receiving $500 to attend Ivy Tech in the Fall
I have had the dream to be RN nurse since I was in elementary school. Even through the rough childhood that I had I allowed nothing to stop me from my goals! I started going to Anthis Career Academy my junior year of high school. I was in a Intro- to health class and I am now in a certified medical assisting class. I am scheduled to graduate from North Side High School on June 10, 2017 with my academic honors and technical honors diplomas. I have gotten accepted into Ivy Tech Community College which I will start in the fall of 2017. When I was fifteen years old my two sisters and I were taken away from our single mother and placed into foster care. However, I made sure that we never stopped going to school. My mother ended up gaining custody back of the three of us a month shy of my sixteenth birthday. Two months after I turned sixteen I found out that I was pregnant. I felt like my whole world was crashwhen I found out that I was pregnant I felt like my world was crashing down. I never stopped going to school even though kids laughed at me, talked about me, and stopped talking to me. I lost the few friends that I had because they didn't want to be seen with me while I was pregnant. It was extremely hard but I ended up having a heathy baby girl in September of 2015. Everything went smoothly during my delivery and I ended up going back to school just two weeks after I had my daughter. I am now eighteen, a full time student at North Side, have a part time job, a single mother of a sixteen month old, I have my own house and car, and go to Anthis for Medical Assisting. I am extremely proud of who I am and who I have become. I am a 21st century scholar as well, meaning that my college tuition will be covered. Ivy Tech is twenty minutes away from my apartment and I plan on going full time. Full time for me will consist of four days a week, five hours a day. If I am blessed with this scholarship I will use the money for transportation, housing for my daughter and I, and for any other school supplies that are needed. This scholarship will allow me to not worry so much about working but about college to better the life of my daughter and I. Thank you so much for allowing me to possibly getting blessed with your scholarship!
